After my visit to India, I was deeply inspired by the weaving of handloom kanchipurams. Having been fascinated with every aspect of the textile industry and the historical aspect, I was encouraged by family and friends to pursue this interest.
During our trip to India, we had the pleasure of visiting many communities where the early weavers emerged from, Kanchipuram & Salem. As these rural communities heavily depended on the income of handloom sarees, it became evident that the skillset was scarce and more and more of these craftsman were indulging in other better-paying stable careers. It became heavily important to me that we preserve the rich tradition of kanchipuram sarees and the artisans so that we see this industry sustaining in the long run.
When I first opened up our shop, my primary focus was on educating our clients about the rich traditions in our culture and current artisans who were descendants of master weavers. We now work with numerous wonderful weavers who we had the chance to meet during our trip to India, who help Maha & Co Inc. establish into the entity it is today. We expect to slowly expand and hope to support many weavers in the future.
Maha & Co Inc. has been operating for well over 4 years now thanks to our incredible clients, friends and family who have supported us. We are committed to improving our brand experience and continue to bring you more incredible designs.
